Microsoft Office Specialist training and certification for Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook returns in the Spring Term, with courses beginning in January. As ever, Library & Information Services provide these courses and qualifications for free to Cardiff Met students and staff.
Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) is a globally renowned Microsoft qualification programme that certifies expertise in Office software. At Cardiff Met we have combined MOS qualifications with bespoke training to offer high quality, relevant training that enables you to prove your digital skills to employers.
Each course is comprised of an initial induction and “key concept” session, a comprehensive set of e-lessons, plenty of practical exercises and further (optional) face-to-face training sessions – giving you a degree of flexibility in how you complete the learning.

Microsoft Office Specialist Excel - learn how to analyse, manipulate and present data effectively in Excel. The course will give you the skills you need to master the principle features of Excel.
Microsoft Excel is one of the terms that features most in job adverts, as the spreadsheet software is both ubiquitous and powerful. This course covers the full gamut of Excel features, from the basics, such as organising and formatting your spreadsheet, through to advanced functions that can be used to analyse your data. |

Our Microsoft Office Specialist Outlook course is designed to help you process your email, calendar and to-do list in a business context. Almost everyone knows the basics of email, but graduates who join the workforce are frequently unfamiliar with how communications software works in a corporate environment.
The aim is to make you more productive when dealing with your digital communications; it is as much about saving yourself time as it is about learning new hints and tips for using Outlook.

Microsoft Office Specialist PowerPoint – this course explores the design principles and technical skills that are required to create great looking slides that complement your presentations.
PowerPoint is synonymous with “presentation”, but it takes technical skills and knowledge of visual design to create a good visual aid. The course explores both topics in depth, enabling you to effectively communicate your ideas. |

Upon successfully completing a course and passing the Microsoft exam you will receive a physical and digital certificate, and a digital badge. Digital badges are a modern way of verifying and sharing achievements. They are a way of showcasing your skills and accomplishments to your peers, through social media, and employers, through LinkedIn.
