Summer schedule of digital skills training

The digital skills schedule for the summer period includes a new series - Thinking Like a Programmer, new sessions in the Tools for Teaching series and returning favourites such as Microsoft Office Specialist, Web Design Fundamentals, Streamlining Business Process, Information Technology Specialist, and courses on Teams, managing documents, Photoshop, Qualtrics and Business Objects.

Over the summer period, our Office, web design and technical courses will run as flexible learning courses, giving you the chance to learn at your pace.

Microsoft Office Specialist courses develop skills in the principal features of Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook and lead to Microsoft Office Specialist qualifications.
Advanced Microsoft Office Specialist courses are for those looking to develop and certify expert-level skills in Excel, Word or Access.
Web Design Fundamentals will enable you to create, maintain and style web pages using HTML and CSS. Successful completion of the course results in an Information Technology Specialist qualification.
Information Technology Specialist courses develop technical skills and lead to Information Technology Specialist qualifications. Courses available include programming with JavaScript, Python or Java, app and software development, security, databases and more.

The conclusion of these courses is an exam that can be sat in June, July or September. Passing the exam will result in a qualification and digital badge that provides evidence of your skills that you can share through LinkedIn and social media.

Collaborating with Microsoft Teams and Office 365 - learn how to work effectively as a member of a digital team and make full use of the communication and collaboration tools in Microsoft Teams and Office 365. Successful completion of the course (three training sessions and an assessment) leads to the Digital Collaboration with Microsoft Teams and Office 365 digital badge and certificate.

Managing Documents with OneDrive and SharePoint – this course explores how students and staff can use OneDrive and SharePoint Online to store, manage and collaborate on documents effectively. Successful completion of the course (three training sessions and an assessment) leads to the SharePoint Document Manager digital badge and certificate.

Business Objects training and certification

Business Objects is Cardiff Met’s corporate reporting tool. It can be used to query data sources such as the student system or HR databases to produce statistics and reports.

Our Business Objects training course has been expanded to incorporate an additional session and now leads to a Cardiff Met digital badge certification.

Preparing Images with Photoshop

The Preparing Images with Photoshop Foundation course will teach you how to use Photoshop to prepare and enhance images, whether they are for presentations, documents or publishing them to the web, this course will help you get your images looking great.

Online Survey Design with Qualtrics

Qualtrics is Cardiff Met's survey software that any student or member of staff can use to create, distribute and analyse surveys. Learn the basic principles of good survey methodology and the technical skills required to create effective surveys with the Designing Effective Surveys with Qualtrics course.

Later that summer…

In July, three series commence.

Tools for Teaching explores the software, skills and practices that can enhance the learning experience for students. New this time around is Can-do with Canva that demonstrates how Canva can be used to easily design content – slides, infographics, video, social media – through templates and drag and drop.

The rest of the series is comprised of a session on creating online quizzes, a course on designing e-lessons with Adapt Builder, a session on using Sway in teaching, two Teams for Teaching sessions and Video, Video, Video.

Thinking Like a Programmer is a new series that looks at how to create solutions using programming concepts and thought processes. The series is for anyone who is interested in developing no-code systems, such as Power Automate flows, learners enrolled on an Information Technology Specialist programming course or anyone who wants to learn a bit about programming.

Streamlining Business Processes focuses on tools and methods that can make business processes more efficient. There are sessions on administering SharePoint team sites, training on automating processes with Power Automate and how to use Microsoft Lists to store and track data.

Daily Digital micro-webinars

Daily Digital micro-webinars demonstrate useful tools, techniques and features in a bite-sized format. They are held on Fridays at midday and recommence on 13th May, here’s the upcoming schedule:

Mae ein cwrs hyfforddi Business Objects wedi'i ehangu i gynnwys sesiwn ychwanegol ac mae bellach yn arwain at ardystiad bathodyn digidol Met Caerdydd.

Paratoi Delweddau gyda Photoshop

Bydd y cyrsiau Paratoi Delweddau gyda Photoshop yn eich dysgu sut i ddefnyddio Photoshop i fireinio delweddau. P’un a ydynt ar gyfer cyflwyniadau, dogfennau neu i’w cyhoeddi ar y we, bydd y cyrsiau hyn yn eich helpu chi i sicrhau bod eich delweddau’n edrych yn wych.

Dylunio Arolygon Ar-lein gyda Qualtrics

Meddalwedd arolygon Met Caerdydd yw Qualtrics y gall unrhyw fyfyriwr neu aelod o staff ei defnyddio i greu, lledaenu a dadansoddi arolygon. Dysgwch am egwyddorion sylfaenol methodoleg arolygon da a’r sgiliau technegol sydd eu hangen i greu arolygon effeithiol gyda’r cwrs Dylunio Arolygon Effeithiol gyda Qualtrics.

Mae Adnoddau ar gyfer Addysgu’n archwilio'r feddalwedd, y sgiliau a'r arferion a all wella'r profiad dysgu i fyfyrwyr. Ychwanegiad newydd y tro hwn yw Gallu gwneud gyda Canva, sy'n dangos sut y gallwch ddefnyddio Canva i ddylunio cynnwys yn hawdd – sleidiau, ffeithluniau, fideo, cyfryngau cymdeithasol – trwy dempledi a llusgo a gollwng.

Mae gweddill y gyfres yn cynnwys sesiwn ar greu cwisiau ar-lein, cwrs ar ddylunio e-wersi gydag Adapt Builder, sesiwn ar ddefnyddio Sway mewn addysgu, dwy sesiwn Teams ar gyfer Addysgu a Fideo, Fideo, Fideo.

Cyfres newydd yw Meddwl Fel Rhaglennydd sy'n edrych ar sut i greu atebion gan ddefnyddio cysyniadau rhaglennu a phrosesau meddwl. Mae'r gyfres yn addas i unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb mewn datblygu systemau heb god, fel llifoedd Power Automate, dysgwyr sydd wedi cofrestru ar gwrs rhaglennu Arbenigwr Technoleg Gwybodaeth neu unrhyw un sydd am ddysgu ychydig am raglennu.
